About the artist

“My first memory of expressing my thoughts and emotions through art was when I was about 4, I drew a huge stick family on my mum's bedroom wall. As proud as I was, it soon got decorated over! The right side of my brain has dominated most of my life so far, drawing me to art, design, music & holistics but I’ve only been creating art pieces for 2 years. Lockdown was the catalyst for me and I learnt digital art via Procreate. I’m very passionate about nature and preserving what we have, I like to showcase animals in my artwork, in particular those facing extinction or threat. Just recently I have found my graffiti style and I'm so excited to share it with you.”

About the art

The title of my artwork is ‘Junior’ a young orangutan orphan who faces deforestation within its habitat. Junior lost both parents to illegal tree logging and sits on a tree stump to fend for itself. Being an 80’s kid, I wanted to represent that defining street art era by referencing music tech and artists that I grew up with but also emphasising that whilst human life moves on and advances, other parts of our planet are stuck, forgotten and rely on us to survive. Through the cracks in the wall, there is some hope for Junior. New habitats are being planted and there is some protection from organisations such as WWF. This art piece took 16 hours and I adopted an orangutan along the way!
