About the artist
Based in the Somerset countryside, I am an illustrator whose work is focused largely on the dark and botanical, taking inspiration from the earth, natural forms and a little bit of magic. I primarily create work in black ink fine-liner, but also make Lino prints in my home studio. This is my fourth year taking part in Art For The Earth and I couldn’t be more excited to be involved in this amazing project again. As so much of my work is inspired by the natural world, it brings me so much joy to be able to give something back to our planet.

About the art
This year my piece is called “Wildflowers” and depicts a selection of U.K. native wildflowers, some of which are endangered and most of which are fantastic for pollinators. It is so important for us to protect the rich biodiversity of our planet and I wanted this to serve as a reminder that even the smallest components contribute massively to our ecosystem and need to be protected. Whilst I’ve used watercolour to capture the delicate and beautiful colours of these flowers, I have included a matte, black background to add a stark contrast and serve as a reminder of how lost we would be without the power of plants.
