About the artist

I am a freelance artist based in the Somerset countryside working primarily in black ink, using dotwork and linework to create my pieces. I also occasionally work in watercolour and acrylic to introduce some colour into my pieces. A lot of my inspiration comes from the natural world, particularly anything botanical, so I love being able to give back to our planet by taking part in Art For The Earth. This is my third AFTE and I couldn’t be more excited to help raise money for WWF UK again this year.

About the art

I wanted to highlight some of the smaller elements that make up our ecosystems and how important it is for us to protect them so that our planet can thrive. These species pollinate our plants, fertilise our soil and provide us with seasonal food to survive. By working with them instead of against them, we can create a more positive future. I used watercolour to show the vibrancy of the world around us, black ink to add all the small details and matte black acrylic for the background, to suggest how stark our planet would be without these vital contributors.
