About the artist

My name is Joanna and I am based in Poole, Dorset. I have always loved to draw, and spend time in nature, which is my main source of inspiration. I am self-taught. I mostly use ink pens and watercolors. I love the combination of meticulous linework, and the freedom and flow of watercolors. I use my art to awaken a sense of wonder and respect for nature.

About the art

This piece was created using black ink. The inspiration came from the theme 'Our natural world'. For me, humans are an integral part of nature. We are so closely intertwined, and yet many of us don't feel that connection. During these times, when we are facing a climate crisis, it is more important than ever before to realise that every single one of us has a power to choose to care about the natural world, to take care of it and help preserve it. Every day, I am choosing to care. Will you join me?
