About the artist
“I am a landscape painter living in East Sussex. I started painting landscapes a few years ago when I realised that I wanted to paint what surrounds me, record its beauty and its majesty before it disappears altogether. I have always been interested in the natural world and am happy to donate a painting to a cause which ties in with my interests.”
About the art
There was something about the golden light in the reference photo for this painting which captivated me. It's quintessentially English and the view could be almost anywhere in the country, although it's actually in Wiltshire. Scenes like this are disappearing as we desperately try to solve the housing crisis by building on green fields. I try to preserve both the look and the feeling of these soon to be forgotten places in my paintings.
