About the artist

Charlotte has always enjoyed painting and drawing since a young age and throughout her school years. However, she had not painted since finishing her art GSCE's 15 years ago, until earlier this year. Charlotte started at PWC in January, and her colleague Lou Hymers encouraged Charlotte to take up painting again.

About the art

In this painting, a lone flamingo stands on a pristine beach, its bright pink colour strong against the golden sand and perfect blue sea and sky. The aim of the artwork was to show a tranquil coastal paradise, which we flock to for recreation, but can easily destroy with pollution and plastic cluttering up the shorelines. These areas are home to birds, sea creatures and other wildlife, and serve a far greater purpose than to provide leisure for humans. This painting shows how perfect the beaches can be if left untouched.
