Bronze Sculpture of Rhino and Children by Robert Rorich
Robert Rorich’s bronze sculpture of Rhino and Children on a wooden base.
The Rhino and Children are perfectly relaxed together, they are at peace in each other’s company. The children are learning from each other while the Rhino keeps a motherly guard. A love as close as a Mother-and-Child’s bond is shown between these Children and Mother Nature.
“I loved packing each piece of clay into the rhinos back, she came to life through simple rounded hand mounded shapes of clay. With a little more time and detail I attempted to give her face, and particularly her eyes, a ‘wise mother’ energy. The two children were fun to make, they’ve taken on an almost impish appearance totally by accident but I like the way this plays into the magic of this Mother Nature Child bond.”
The Price includes 20% which Robert has chosen to dedicate to the Eden to Addo Corridor Initiative.
Robert’s bronze sculptures are cast in bronze using the ‘lost wax method’ at Bronze Art Africa in White River, Mpumalanga and at 4G8 foundry in Woodstock, Cape Town.
“I make them with wooden bases and wire armatures and pack on wax-based clay. I reuse the clay after each piece is done but the wood bases and wire can unfortunately only be used once.”
All of Robert’s sculptures have a lead-time of two months
